It is with great sadness that we share the news that our Head Coach, Charles Rogers, has passed away.

Although Charles had experienced a short period of illness, we had remained hopeful for his recovery. His sudden passing has come as a profound shock to our entire club community.

Charles dedicated his life to swimming and to coaching. Over many decades he coached and developed generations of swimmers, giving his time, knowledge and encouragement to countless athletes. Many of those who passed through his guidance went on to achieve great things in the sport, while others carried forward the confidence, discipline and love of swimming that he helped inspire.

Charles spent many years coaching swimmers across Manchester and the surrounding areas, where he built a lasting reputation as a committed and respected coach. After eventually retiring to Skegness, his passion for the sport never left him, and he later came out of retirement to join our club as Head Coach, continuing to share his experience and dedication with a new generation of swimmers.

Charles was more than a coach; he was a mentor, a supporter and a friend to many. His influence extended far beyond the pool, and his legacy will live on through the swimmers he coached and the lives he touched throughout his long career.

As a club, we will continue to support one another during this difficult time. Details of arrangements and a celebration of Charles’s life will be shared in due course.

Charles will be deeply missed and always remembered.
